Hi Okhoydal (why does no one in this forum sign a post with their real name???)

please have a look at the following thread:

Thread EQ6-R parking problem

From my own experience and the information posted within the tread mentioned above I suppose that you didn't define your parking position in INDI.
To do this go in the EQMod preferences in the INDI-settings and look for the site management tab.
Get your mount in the "standard parking position" (weights down, telescope ponting towards the celestial pole) and hit default and write data.

After this I hope your accuracy will increase.

Hope to hear from you...

I already have a focuser that works with ascom and transmits the motion to the c9 through a special bracket and strap.
Unfortunately, it is a review of the robofocus that only works in ascom but I need to switch to ekos to be able to command the Nikon d3400 and be able to schedule a few sessions without the expensive MaximDL.

Just out of curiosity...
Did you try any of the drivers provided in the INDI-package.???

Even if it‘s a clone it probably is based on a well know platform.

ehhhhmmm... I don't get your point Astronerd.
Shutting down the OS before disconnecting the power prevents corrupted file systems and thus boot problems. Please correct me when I'm wrong.

That‘s exactly what to do...
Shutting down and cutting the power after the system is halted (give it a few seconds).

@suvowner
Debian is very nitpicky about cutting the power without shutting down the OS.
As in my case the file system tends to get corrupted quite easily.

So always(!) make sure the OS is shut down correctly before powering down your RPi.

I strongly second this...
In my case the RPi was stuck in emergency mode after power loss and some minor filesystem corruption.

If for any reason you're not able to connect it to a monitor, but have an USB-keyboard at hand try Ctrl&D some time after starting the RPi - you may be lucky...

But as said before - connect it to a screen and have a look.

Hi Jasem,

perhaps I didn't get it right, because the settings window uses the same icon as the guide-setup within KStars and the window title is "Configure - KStars"... So shame on me!

But my real intention is to make this a normal setting within the Ekos-GUI - in my opinion the "Manual Dither" button would be an ideal spot for a general "Dithering" button.

I really grew to like EKOS and massively appreciate your encouragement, Jasem, but the multiple-location setup-structure makes it newbies hard to get along.
I hope that you take it for what it is - hopefully constructive criticism. Please don't take it for anything more...

Cheers & keep up the great work

Dear star-friends,

I‘d like to sum up my findings of the last nights...
First of all, your advice concerning my sync near the NCP was right. When I just start my session with slewing to a target or solve/slew a photo already taken and check the slew to target box in the alignment section everything is fine.

This leads me to thinking if it wouldn’t be helpful to give a warning if the FIRST alignment Point of a model is within, let‘s say, 1 degre of a celestial pole.

What do you think?

Thanks and CS

Thanks for your explanations...

I really had a hard time finding the options.

In my opinion one of the downsides of Kstars/Ekos is the sometimes incoherent way the settings are organised.
Why is the guiding-setup and dithering located in the planetarium-software Kstars and not in the astrophotography module Ekos???

Thanks and CS

When i again go from 20000 to 25000 it is no longer in focus. i can say just total out of focus.

What can be the reason of this behaviour?

@Astrosnoesky

If you have the chance try your exact setup with the Primaluce Windows tool (you can do it at daytime - just focus on a belltower or anything similar reasonably far away) if the focus point is fix regardless of the focussing motion than it's perhaps an INDI related problem - if the problem persists, read on ;)

I'd suppose it is a mechanical problem.
First of all it seems to be some kind of backlash problem to me. Get sure, that you have a tight mechanical connection of the shafts of your SestoSenso and the focuser.
On the other hand don't overtighten the fixation of the Sesto housing at the outer barrel of your focuser.
Get the friction right and reassure, that no fixation-screw is accidentally tightened.

I hope you'll get it working soon...

RoMe wrote: Does anybody know if it is possible to do a factory reset on the focuser to test the first run initialization sequence?

Dear RoMe,
unfortunately I don't know, but I suppose that the first time initialization should work if we are able to successfully set the limits later on.

I'm planning to get another SestoSenso for my RC telescope, since I really love the clean and compact design (and really like the motors to be fixed with the telescope), so I supposedly am able to test the first time initialization as well in the time to come.
