I was able to get my ublox 7 GPS dongle installed and it shows up in SM / Ekos / Indi but a few things are odd. BTW, I am running the GPDS driver in auxiliary. First, Kstars still will not show the correct time and there is no UTC offset listed (should be - 8 hours ) for me. I have the Kstars settings for GPS updates Kstars checked but that still does not do it. The only time Kstars shows everything correct is when I am running Kstars on PC and running indi server remote, but even then it still is not right in indi control panel and still no UTC. Not sure what is going on. BTW, this is always a frustrating setup it seems there are at least 30 different places in SM, Ekos, Indi where you can change the time.
I am running the latest as of March 2020 indi library update too. Thanks for any help.

I have seen some videos of using the mobile phone to send gps info to Kstars/Ekos using mobile apps such as Share GPS, etc. I see the drivers for connecting to GPS show up under auxiliary equipment but I am able to make it work. The youtube video of it shows a bunch of terminal commands that I am hoping are not needed if the drivers are already in the indi library. Anyone done this successfully and able to share how its done?

Thanks

I'm confused on what the difference is between the indi control panel equipment profile screen in Kstars and the Ekos equipment profile that uses the icons for equipment profiles. The attached screen shot show what I'm referring to. on the left is Indi control panel and on right is Ekos. They both seem to allow changes to my profiles but what is purpose of indi control panel?

It seems that to avoid lagging issues people are running Kstars on their PC, and Ekos on the RPi remotely. How do I run Kstars on PC but Ekos remotely since Ekos requires Kstars to work?? If I run kstars on my RPi with Stellarmate, it does not seem to sync, etc. with time, and scope. There must be a way people are running the Kstars correctly on PC while running their equipment on SM on the RPi via ekos. I cannot seem to understand how this is done. Thanks for any help.

Try connecting through the hc. I could not connect my cem120 directly using usb to mount but could when I used hc.

Kamisan, I recall reading a post about someone powering their two Rpi with Li battery pack. Was that you and if so which ones do you use?

Thanks

Greetings,

Being very new to Indi from formally all Windows use, I am struggling to figure out some very basic stuff in Stellarmate.

1. How do I know which version of inid library I am running, where do I go to check in Stellarmate?
2. Does Stellarmate automatically find and update the latest drivers, or do they need to be manually loaded?
3. Where are the commands "sudo"...etc. actually entered in? Im' assuming Mate Terminal but not sure.
4. Do I need to update Ubunto (not even sure what that is) when I update indi library?

There are probably other questions I should be asking but I will start with these

Thanks!
Bruce

Thanks for the suggestions Ihoujin. I was finally able to connect my mount to stellarmate and it looks from what I can tell, the only thing that changed was to change the baud rate up to the highest setting. Perhaps the iOptron drive V3 was not connecting under the 9600 baud default but that is the only thing that I can think of that changed that made it finally connect.

Clear skys!

Greetings,

I have had my Stellarmate now for almost a month and still cannot get it to control my iOptron 120 mount. I can connect via stellarmate to every possible driver (focuer, ZWO, etc. ) but not my mount. At times I do get it to "show" it being connected to the mount, but there is no response when I try to make the mount move, slew, goto, ,etc. It shows coordinates changing, etc. but not actual movement. I am connecting from laptop via VNC connection to SM. I have tried all the wizards, etc. but nothing seems to make it connect. I am connected to SM via usb/serial from mount, and running all the connections (camera ,mount )through startech powered USB 3 hub which plugs into SM. As a test, I used the same ethernet and USB set-ups to control my mount successfully directly from my laptop so I know those USB/ethernet cable connections work when not running through SM. Based on my limited knowledge of everything I have tried, it looks to be a driver related issue and how EKOS is not recognizing the library?

Questions:

1. Should settings be local or remote? How do I know what I am?
2. There are several drivers listed for iOptron mount including one that looks to be for the GOTONova (HC?). I have tried several but nothing seems to make it connect.
3. I use the serial port wizard and it maps successfully to /dev/mount, but in EKOS, it does not seem to recognize that port name. Is there something that has to be done to place the dev/mount drive into EKOS?
4. I have tried connecting from mount to SM via ethernet but that does nothing. Not even sure what IP address to use in EKOS (is it the mount, the router, or SM's IP).

We can send a man to the moon, it should'nt be that difficult to connect and make the mount respond so I would love to know how you'all are doing it.

Thanks

Thanks. I tried connecting from the r232 on mount to usb converter to SM and it wont recognize unless i connect via HC so i must still be doing something wrong. Yes it was unparked, etc. Not sure why ethernet from mount to SM wont connect either. I have heard some connect mount to SM via the mounts Wifi but that does not sound right either.

I have not been able to move my mount using Ekos commands even though Ekos shows it (CEM120) as being connected. I have it connected via HC using converter to USB plugged into Stellarmate. My mount has wifi and LAN too but not sure if those are options to connect via SM either. If anyone has connected their SM to iOptron mount I would like to know how.

Thanks
