I also have a strange problem with BIN 2,3,4 They remove all color information and geometrically stretch the subs horizontally! My release is latest, My DSLR is Sony a7 using Sony DSLR as driver and a5000 using generic gphoto. (Stellarmate 1.8.1 OS)

No! Not 8bit/16bit mode. I'm talking about Low Readout Noise mode; attached pic:

My Player One Saturn C (IMX533) has a Fast and a Slow mode, where the slow has less noise... I'm not sure but I think I saw about same speed on my fast laptop and on the RPi 5 using the Slow setting.

Now running FireCapture on RPi 5. Snappy! Have connected with INDI. Looks very interesting! Seems possible to Focus, Autoguide and more, but have not had time to do real testing yet.
Using Stellarmate 1.8.1 (64 bit) which I have started on same RPi5. Disconnected the camera since it must belong to FireCapture. Probably should disconnect all devices? Or should I use Ekos sor some functions like Kstars-Ekos goto and Platesolve objects?

I cannot get Firecapture to run on a 64 bit RPi4b. I guess the java runtime is only 32bit!

Guess this is a dead duck now? I tried to install FireCapture but it did not want to run. The Java included probably was 32bit? Would it not be possible to recompile FireCapture for 64bit and include it as an optional package in StellarMate, with optimized default settings for the RPi environment? I guess that with 8Gb version of RPi, using large fast memory over USB3, the RPi would cope with it.

Update! I work with your method, but all big stars show a small satellite close in random direction in the subs. It is neutralized by stacking, but shows that the code for pre-capture is called before the Dither! I have opened a ticket with Stellarmate. You may also be interested since you went into the code and made it work in the first place?

I have a ZWO EAF. Now I consider another Zwo EAF for the Piggyback telescope. Can INDI-Ekos handle two equal devices like that?

Interesting that no error occurs when making a pause of 5 sec. I definitely will try that. When each sub is 300 sec that is not a great penalty. As for Version that works, I first detected the problem in Kstars 2.5.5. Jasem Mutlaq patched this version to make it work. I do not know what change he did, but I think all versions earlier than 2.5.5 is good. I have not found out how to specifically load an older version of gphoto2 and would love to see a procedure to do this.

Based on this tread i see the following Sony cameras: a6400, a7, a5000, a7s. Since I'm using the generic gphoto driver for my sony a5000 in stead of Sony DSLR i wonder if the problem is more widespread than Sony cameras?

To verify if error is present, just make a capture sequence of 100 subs a 1 second. it usually fails within that somewhere. I have the issue on all my Sonys: a7 and two a5000 so it definitely is not a HW error.
The man behind StellarMate has debugged the problem logged into my system and recreated the problem. He has raised the issue with the maintainers of GPhoto2. He also made a patch to my system that fixed the problem for me. I just cannot upgrade anymore before the problem is solved in the releases. In the meantime it would be nice if someone made a detailed description of the installation of the patch...

I tested with StellarMate the use of ASTAP and its Live Stack feature. The good news is that it works quite well. The bad news is that the user interface under RPi is terribly sluggish. Example is live stack of 17 subs:

Could you use NTFS in stead of Ext4 just to make the SSD readable on your Windows machine?. Would be easier to get quickly to your subs after session.
