im on nightly builds and only noticed this yesterday. also im assuming its the tec cooler not being turned on as the light on the camera body is not on. but does come on when used with altair capture.
i try to lower temp. press the tick box to set the ccd temperature. but nothing happens. the temp just reads 0.00 and the message box says cooler is on. but nothing.
latest log file attached. thank you in advance for any help
was just about to start my own post but was waiting till i had my log files. but i have been having the same problem but my camera is the altair 183c protec.
i thought it was a hardware problem since i bought the 183 second hand and have been having this problem since using stellarmate (from v 1.5.. but through all the updates and various hardware changes including cables and usb hubs, has remained the same. yet works first time, everytime using altair capture.
its like the camera or driver needs to warm up! so to speak. capture timed out, restarting exposure...plate solving does the same also focuser. sometimes can take 10 mins to get working .sometimes over an hour. i restart the camera driver and maybe it will take 1 exposure.but then i will try to plate solve then it will time out again. restart the driver again and maybe it will work ,maybe not. but once it starts woking it works fine.
one final note. since stellarmate v1.6.0 the camera resolution defaults to lowest resolution. i keep changing and saving in the options tab but wont save settings.
hope this can be solved. i will post my logs when get the chance so hopefully can get resolved.
any updates on this please? will i be safe to upgrade software. at the moment reverted back to stellarmate v1.5.9 where the polar alignment routine works fine. but having just bought a new scope (hence the cloud and rain here now) and adjusting my rig shall i stick with 1.5.9 or how do i enable this limited resource mode workaround. i have v1.5.9 and and 1.6.0 on different sd cards so backups but with said weather here not had chance to test polar alignment routine.
thanks in advance and for all the effort everyone puts in here.
if a rough alignment is ok i managed to get a few shots between the clouds. i done 2 runs of the polar alignment (both times crashed) then tried as best i could to copy position of mount then took 2 lots of images.
and please ignore rough stars. i have to do polar alignment through glass skylight. hense the limited field of view.
thank you for your help
i will try when it clears here,
also do the images have to be 30 degrees apart? i usually only do 15 degrees during polar alignment due to my limited field of view and as i cant see polaris i start my routine way off home position.
are these logs any better. i ran the debugger as you said, and have just run polar alignment again, then after 3rd image kstars closed/crashed then i saved log files.
hope they help.
I will try tonight if it clears here. Or will try simulator see if that produces same result.
Hi. I have also been having same problem with ekos crashing after 3rd image in polar alignment. I did start my own thread before I saw this one.
also after having a quick look at your log file there is an error that is same as in my log file.MouseArea: Detected anchors on an item that is managed by a layout. This is undefined behavior; use Layout.alignment instead.
[2021-09-27T22:21:14.531 BST WARN ][ default] - qrc:/qml/mount/mountbox.qml:428: ReferenceError: xi18n is not defined.
it may be nothing an sure means nothing to me but after the 3 Rd or 4th crash I narrowed the time in the log to the time it crashed.
also I tried lowering the slew speed which still crashed after 3rd image
. Let's hope we get this fixed.
i have just upgraded stellarmate to v1.6.0 , now everytime i do polar alignment after it captures 3rd image and is processing wcs data ekos will just close and i have to restart ekos which then says i have an instance of ekos allready running do i wish to close this one first.any help please? i have attached the last 3 log files which does show warning;[2021-09-27T22:23:51.097 BST WARN ][ default] - qrc:/qml/mount/mountbox.qml:502:17: QML MouseArea: Detected anchors on an item that is managed by a layout. Thank you jasem yes I did try with the beta channel, and to me with the images I see compared to altair capture the images were still dark and deepsky stacker couldn't register enough stars to stack photos. But I have since moved to astro pixel processor and that works fine. So it was either something I wasn't doing right or ... Well probably I wasn't doing something right . Still very much a beginner and learning.
but as I have you attention. I have just purchased a zwo eaf. And that is playing havoc with my 183c. when click on auto focus it keeps crashing the camera driver. Takes many attempts to get it to auto focus as I have to keep restarting camera driver. I don't have any logs right now because I tried re installing stellarmate and doing updates and forgot to enable logs. I'm imaging right now so as soon as I can I'll upload logs.
thank you all for helping
easy question i hope.
owned this altair 183c protec for over a month trying to get it work with stellarmate/indi but im starting to belive it wont work with stellarmate/indi after many failed imaging attempts.
so question is, is it me or will this camera not work?
can provide logs, screenshots, settings and many wasted hours if needed.
thank you in advance
Yes I do click the auto stretch button in the preview. Should that automatically apply the stretch to the downloaded subs?
because as I say dss struggles to find enough stars to stack an image, and when I does as from 1st screenshot the histogram is way over to the left and I can't process any data in photoshop.
Also when pointing the scope at the daylight sky both images are literally like night and day between altair capture and stellarmate.
I know dedicated astro cameras are a big learning curve. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks all for the help.
thank you again for replying.
no change if i alter gain or offset.
i should have explained the screenshots i took.
the first one is 2 hours worth of images on ngc 1449 stacked in dss. eventually. dss has a hard time stacking as there is so few stars in images. the histogram is stuck to the left and i cant process any data from stacked image.
second, third and fourth image are just my settings in stellarmate.
the last image is from altair capture. i brought scope and camera (my setup is in loft which is why i use rasberry pi with stellarmate) to my pc took an image during day and the image looks as it should. but same image in stellarmate is just dark. histogram stuck to the left.
i have tried to copy settings as best i could from altair capture into stellarmatewith no luck.
thank you again
