Plate Solving and mount error adjustments

Hi,

I'm a recent convert to the astrophotography world and would like some advice on the above subject.

My setup is a Celestron EdgeHD 8, HEQ5 Pro EQMOD connected mount, ZWO ASI533MC Pro camera, ZWO EAF Focuser, Raspberry PI 4GB with stellarmate OS and ethernet cable connected Ubuntu laptop.

I am able to a 3 image plate solve but when it comes to the adjustment phase I see forever increasing altitude errors. Therefore I cant get the error under a reasonable value. I dont believe this should be happening and was wondering if my mount is at fault. When I look at the indi control panel - EQMOD Mount tab I see that the backward/forward indicator under the RA motor status is green when the mount is not moving. Refer pics.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Carl & welcome to INDI forums.

In the Refresh phase, you're adjusting the ALT + AZ knobs, so why do you think the issue is related to the mount?

Hi
Are you trying to position the telescope or polar align the mount? Is the latter tracking?
Cheers

Hi Jasem,

I'm only assuming its the mount. Doesn't the mount continuously give feedback to ekos on where it is? I would have thought that the error would remain constant until you did the alt and azimuth adjustments but theses errors are always increasing with no input from me.

Can you tell, is your mount tracking? It should be.
If you are saying that the alt error is increasing continuously without you doing anything, I wold have to assume it's not tracking.

Well, either that or perhaps something is loose and your mount is slowly moving?

Does anyone have a video of a real plate solve and refresh procedure (not simulation) that I can compare with?
