Optec SWX30 Focuser Setting for Step Size

Just got this focuser and have a question regarding an INDI setting. The INDI driver setting for Step Size includes, next to the input field for step size, the following text: “1000*micons/step”. I have calculated that my focuser has a 1.7 micron step size. If I take the text in the INDI settings window at face value, I would get an input value of 1,700 (1000*1.7). Is that correct?

My attempts to simply input 1.7 as the step size have resulted in the INDI settings rounding that value up to a whole number, 2 in this case. So, I've concluded that INDI doesn't want the step size measured in microns.

Also, is this value actually used by anything? In the Focuser module settings there is another location to input step size that seems happy to accept fractional values.

Thanks!
