Telescope simulator crashes

Telescope simulator crashes was created by Tim

I completely removed INDI and KStars so that I could start with a fresh install to write my dome driver. I installed it according to the instructions on indilib.org/get-indi.html for Ubuntu.

I then did a reboot to ensure everything was set up ok then selected the simulators for telescope, dome, ccd and guider.
When I try and start the Indiserver I get a message saying the telescope simulator crashed.

The computer is a Dell Precision workstation with 2 Xeon proccessors and 23.5 GB memory so it should be powerful enough
I'm running KUbuntu
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
Release:        18.04
Codename:       bionic

I've also tried running the server from the command line with
indiserver -v indi_simulator_telescope
with a similar result.
What am I doing wrong ?

A bit more fiddling and it appears that whatever telescope I select the telescope driver is reporting that it has crashed. That's without trying to actually connect to the telescope itself.

Hey Tim, try deleting any telescope related files that are in ~/.indi

I've had issues in the past with simulators crashing, and that usually fixed it for me.

In the end I completely removed INDI, including "apt autoremove" and then on reinstallation using synpatic package manager it all came good
