HI, i'm having a number of errors showing up when trying to install/upgrade INDI on Fedora 37 at present.

The errors below assume following the install method on the page www.indilib.org/get-indi/download-fedora.html

All previous versoins of INDI have been purged from the OS

There are two types of error appearing
i) Dependency error for Arduino ST4
ii) version conflict errors (looks like it is trying to simultaneously install some 1.9 and 2.0 drivers which cause the dnf transaction test to fail (and so the whole inistall fails)

Specific Errors are as follows:

1. Arduino-ST4 Error:
Problem: cannot install the best candidate for the job
- nothing provides libfirmata.so()(64bit) needed by indi-duino-2.0.2.git-20230419133201.fc37.x86_64

2. Version conflict Errors

This looks like you have both the default Fedora repository build versions (1.99) and the newer git versions (2.0.2git). They are not compatible with each other, so you first have to remove the older packages to use the Fedora COPR repo builds.

Hi, many thanks for the reply.

Something (the installer or OS) thinks the 1.99 drivers are installed but they are not. The system has been completely purged of them. I've tried everything I can think of, dnf has removed all indi files, I even double-checked by doing a file search, I have also cleaned the repositories, etc, i'm stuck as to what to try next.

This method also won't fix the Arduino ST4 2.0.2 issue as this is appears to be due to a missing dependency in the latest build

Correct, that is a different problem. Just looking to solve one at a time. If they are not installed, then something is that still references the old INDI versions, such as kstars. If you are switching to the bleeding repo, you will need to switch everything. Everything = kstars, stellarsolver, indi, and indi-third party.might show you something with an old version.

I had a similar issue. I had kstars installed from the Fedora repository. I totally removed all the FC37 indi / kstars / .. packages. I then enabled the copr repositories and loaded indi / kstars, ... only from them. I have not had any issues. I checked to see there were no FC kstars / indi / .. packages when loading or upgrading.

I ran Fedora for many years and liked it. A couple of years ago I was faced with the choice of staying with Fedora or moving to Ubuntu (kubunto to be more precise). I moved to kubuntu and have not regretted the decision. Almost all the astronomy packages are in the kubuntu library so I don't have to interface with git.
