Hi folks,
following the demise of my old QHY5 guide cam, I decided to use a Meade dsi that I had in my 'collection'. When i connect it to ekos, it is detected, but the guide module does not appear. My config has not changed apart from the camera swap. If I plug the faulty QHY back in, the guide module appears....
Can I use the DSI as a guide cam or not?
Cheers Terry
Did you change the guide camera in your profile to the DSI? Which Version is it? Check if the
driver
supports your model. Do you get a tab for it in the INDI panel?
Hi Peter,
the camera is a DSI-Pro. It's in the profile as a guide cam, loads up ok in the indi panel, but no guide module. When set up as CCD it works fine and the camera module is there.....
Yes, thats right. If I select guide simulator either in the guide tab, and meade dsi in the other, the guide module appears, but not able to do anything with it.
That is an unclear answer. Did you use ST-4 port guiding?
For the guide module to appear you need either a guide camera with an ST-4 port, or a mount that supports pulse guiding via INDI. What have you specified as mount in your profile?
Then try to connect the QHY and the Sphinx, go to the guide module and select the sphinx under 'Via:', and then disconnect again. That should save that selection for the future. Then load the setup with the DSI and the Sphinx. Does the guide module now come up?
Uh, looks bad then.
Do you actually have your mount connected to INDI? I assumed it is, as some search suggested the
starbook driver
supports the SXW.
Else the only way to use a camera without ST-4 port would be to get a separate device that generates such signals. ZWO used to have one, but it is
discontinued
