BUG: FITS viewer cannot debayer with VNG.

BUG?: FITS viewer cannot debayer with VNG. was created by tkakura

When I display an image in FITS viewer using method VNG, the image is not debayer. The image is displayed with two black and white bands.


If I use other method such as nearest, it debayer correctly.


I am using KStars 3.6.7 for Windows.
This ISSUE has been occurring since older versions.

This bug is reproduced in KStars 3.6.8 Stable Build: 2023-12-03T03:33:36Z.

No one is working on VNG debayering now. IIRC, I used a library for VNG but it could be that it was always broken from the start. Not sure if there any other more standard C++ debayering libraries out there that we could use.

I do not consider it required to be able to use the VNG method in FITS Viewer.
If FITS Viewer is not able to correctly debayer with the VNG method, you may want to remove VNG from the options.
