Added the repository and installed kstars-bleeding. Package manager now reports a broken package and the following error appears when using synaptic pm to fix it:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/libindi1_1.2.0+r2577~201607072244~ubuntu16.04.1_i386.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/indi/MathPlugins/libindi_SVD_MathPlugin.so', which is also in package libindi-plugins:i386 1.1.0-1ubuntu1

Solved by removing all traces of libindi and kstars using synaptic package manager and reinstalling indi full and kstars bleeding from the ppa.
Kstars has been very prone to crashing lately for me in a variety of systems. I have tried it on a full desktop install of ubuntu 16.04 as well as several different installs of the vm. It seems most likely to crash when closing the fits viewer or when shutting down the indi server. I know I need to do some logging to help out. I just haven't had the time to do that. I will when I get some time.
