I am in the process of attaching / trying out a new stepper motor to the scope. It is a nema17, with a gearbox 1:14. Should I use microstepping, like 1:2 or ... 1:16? I tend to think that a high resolution is useful in principle to allow precise, minimal movements, at the same time it is slowing down any movements, and also the torque (due to microstepping).
Any views out there on the ideal gear ratio and resolution?
