Hello everyone!
I just implemented a new feature in indi_gphoto driver to enable mirror lock support, in order to reduce mechanical vibrations.
It's currently implemented only for Canon DSLR with serial shooter cable (tested on my EOS 350d).

To use it, you must first enable it in your camera (usually in the last tab, "Custom Functions", called "Mirror Lockup").
Then set the serial port for shooter, and open the gphoto camera as usual.
When a serial port is set, now a new setting appears on connection: "Mirror lock", with a default value of 0.
Set it to a reasonable value (2 seconds will do).
Now when shooting, you'll hear two "clicks" from your camera instead of the usual one: the first pulls up the mirror, the second (after the number of seconds you specified) opens the shutter and starts the exposure.

It will be available in indi-svn soon, Jasem will commit it for me in a while.

Feedback welcome :)
Marco

I will look at your changes. Perhaps i can make some changes for the 550d.
Sure serial shooter users will be happy :)

Hi,
It's in "Custom functions", on the last tab.

Hi!

Right, now I found it. It was called something quite differently in Swedish, but now it's identified. And I've set it to 1.

Now, when I connect, there is nothing in the shutter release field. So I enter /dev/ttyUSB0 (that according to dmesg is where the FTDI-converter is). I disconnect and reconnect, and then there is a mirror lockup feature!

But I cannot make it work. THe camera is set to M, and the exposure wheeln turned to bulb, shown in the LCD window on the camera. I try with the setting in Ekos set to M or to Bulb (in the Settings tab). Sometimes the camera opens and takes an exposure, but not the exposure I've set (for example I set it to 10 secs and and it is open about 30 secs). Sometimes the LCD on the camera changes to for instance 5" but no exposure is taken.

Log files below. Makes any sense?
