KStars UT Offset "Sticks"

I went into the KStars Geographic settings to change the UT offset because of the change in daylight savings time here in New York. It was at -5 during DST, which was correct.

However when I went to set it to -4 without DST and hit OK, the setting remains at -5 when I go back into the Geographic settings. Any reason why this is so?

Thanks.

Hi Phil.

Did you create a new 'city'? When I try to modify an existing site I get 'City is read only'

I tried adding a screen capture but alas more forum issues(???) would not insert an image in the editor

Well I suppose I could add a "new city", but that would negate the point of have adjustable parameters, no? Especially important parameters like time. This definitely doesn't strike as something that would require you to make duplicate locations with different time offsets. Something doesn't seem right to me here.

Hi Phil,

The example you cited, -5 with DST and changing to -4 no DST are equivalent.
When I had my lx200 classic I always ran no DST values.

In your example, what else would be adjustable for any given location?

When you tried to change, did you see the message as attached?

I went back and checked and yes, I don't know why I hadn't noticed that before. Man that is stupid! Why on earth is that a necessity? There's so many locations subjected to DST. So I just made a "new" NYC -4 UTC and called it a day.

Thanks for your help.
