HI Paolo

I don't remember the need to set ADU % in EKOS. Can you please share a screenshot?

Hi Mohamed,
sure, I attached the screenshot.

The use of ADU% should help in order tou get the automated flat.
See also the following link:

indilib.org/support/tutorials/156-capture-automated-flats.html

From previous link the ADU percentage description:
ADU Percentage: Analog to Digital Units (ADU) are the dynamic range of pixels values in your CCD. For a 16bit CCD, the maximum possible ADU is 65535. The actual maximum ADU depends on your CCD. ADU count is proportional to the electrons excited by incident photons and CCD gain. Set the desired ADU % and Ekos shall adjust capture time until target ADU % is reached. When using this setting, it is recommended to set the exposure time to 1 second and Ekos will adjust it accordingly.
Thanks
Paolo

That's out of date, now you set the exact ADU with some acceptable margin.

for 16bit cameras, it's usually about 20,000 or 25,000

Hi Knro,
thanks for the answer.
Where you found this values for 16bit camera (20,000 or 25,000)?
And than how I need to set aslo the tolerance field?

Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Paolo

There is a lot of information out there about capturing flats. It really depends on the camera. You want a good signal, but do not want to saturate pixels. My 1600s are not true 16 bit cameras, so do not have full 65535 well depth available. Even though they call them 16 bit, they are actually 12 bit with bit shifting, so this affects maximum ADU.

Here is one such thread about flats: www.cloudynights.com/topic/579728-flat-f...the-ideal-adu-value/

I have set my ADUs for flats for the ASI1600MM to 23,000 +/- 2000 ADUs.

The tolerance is really not that critical, as long as you are in the linear range and do not clip at either end.

As Jasem wrote, 20,000 - 25,000 is a good range also for the ASI1600.

I just wanted to make note that I updated the above information about the 1600 sensors. They are 12 bit, not 16 bit. astronomy-imaging-camera.com/product/asi...ol#tab-specification
