Looks like that fixed it. Thanks, Jasem!!!!

Keith replied to the topic 'KStars sky map artefacts over VNC' in the forum. 4 days ago

I get the artifacts on the skymap also using both Remmina and TigerVNC.
.
When using VNC over the Stellarmate Hotspot, the VNC connection eventually freezes up and the connection becomes unusable. This only happens with the Skymap over the Hotspot using any VNC program. .
.
If I connect the Rpi to my home network or the mount's handset's router via WiFi or if I plug an ethernet cable directly into the Rpi, then it works normally - with the artifacts.
.
If I can stay away from the Skymap and use only the Ekos and INDI driver pages, then the VNC connection over Hotspot works reasonably well. But once I go to the skymap then the Rpi side freezes and needs to be power cycled.
.
I believe this freezing is happening to only the graphics system since ekos and INDI still operate the mount and cameras normally. I just cannot access any controls. I can still SSH normally into the Rpi and run command line tools such as htop.

LibCamera was working well. . . until the last update. Ugh.

Here are screenshots of my focus Options pages. What directory are the log files stored? Is there a checkbox to select to have ekos generate the detailed log files?

OK, I'll get that information for you later today. Another problem was the autofocus feature "running off" while it was trying to find stars.
.
For example - my system finds focus near "21450" +/- 100 ticks. While searching for and not finding stars, it keeps focusing "outwards" by 1000 ticks every failed autofocus run and the scheduler keeps trying.
.
Is there a way to keep the scheduler and autofocus routine within a reasonable distance of where the last good focus was found?

Several times last night I got a "No Stars Detected" warning and the AutoFocus failed even though there were clearly (though out of focus) stars in the frame. Stopped and restarted kstars and ekos a couple times, no help. This error basically stopped the Scheduler dead in its tracks. . .

Has anyone gotten hardware PWM working on an Rpi-5 using libgpiod? I am using pins 12 & 13 for PWM to run a pair of MOSFETS for dew heater control.
.
I’ve dug thru the libgpiod library and cannot find any mention of PWM anywhere.
.
The gpioset command line works, but only for 1 or 0, no PWM (that I can find).
.
I know the RPIGPIO INDI driver for the Rpi-5 is not ready so I’d like to make a stand alone program to run my dew heaters until that driver is ready.
.
One kludge solution I’ve thought of is a bash file that just turns the pin on and off every second or fractions using the gpioset command line tool.

When I power on my Stellarmate OS (Rpi-4/8GB), all of my USB devices show up in "lsusb" and the INDI driver except the QHY camera and filter. When I remove 12VDC power to the camera/filter to reboot it, it will then show up on Raspberry Pi OS and INDI driver just fine.
.
Is there any way to get the camera to show up automatically when I power up the Rpi? The ZWO cameras show up fine.
.
Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply. The driver is working for now as long as I don't try to save the configuration or load it. The author and Jasem are aware and I believe are working on an update that will include Rpi-5 compatibility.

A bit of troubleshooting. . . . it appears the problem is when the driver attempts to load a configuration file. After setting up the GPIO pins, if you go to the "Options" tab and click "Save" the driver crashes if you then try to "Load", or when the driver attempts to "Load" the configuration file during startup. If I delete both configuration files out of the ".indi" folder, then the driver works.

I've developed a Raspberry Pi Hat that uses GPIO Pins# 12 and 13 to control two MOSFETS via PWM as dew heaters. The RpiGPIO INDI driver was working perfectly for about an hour then just began crashing. The second time the driver loads, it takes kstars down with it (but not the Rpi). If I remove the driver from the Aux slot and start INDI, it works perfectly.
.
The only part I "messed with" was the "Timer Config" tab for Channel 1. I played around with it a bit then set everything back to the original values. Soon after that the driver began crashing and I have been unable to get it to work. I also saved and loaded the configuration under the "Options" tab.
.
I've submitted a support ticket to Jasem, but hopefully someone here has worked thru this issue before.
.
Thanks in advance for any help!!
