mmm I got your point about having one person maintaining the repository and being stopped if he quits, but this way to do is for people who wants to compile themself the software and the drivers, and they usually know already how to do that. Don't forget the people who does not want to get bored with compiling etc. And doing this way, you'll have to compile it again every times there will be any update. By the way, I have already compiled on Pi4 8Gb and it took 4 hours, you can understand that might be intimidating for people without skills in computer stuffs.

Astroberry and now AstroArch is meant for people who does just want to get their Pi easily ready for imaging.

Stellarmate is a really really good option too, with all updates and the support from Jasem, but it's not free, even if it's really cheap regarding the work. I have a license for this but I don't use anymore as I switched for a amd computer with Ubuntu ppa, I did this to get a faster os and software, but it's because I know how to set all things up for that (creating a wifi hotspot, having remote control, etc). Some people don't want to play with that and just want an easy way to get the Pi working.

best regards

Valentin

There is another way to get this working, and which is actively maintained : the AstroArch

And about AstroBerry, I feel the same (I started with it and moved on with a AMD mini computer after), the Astroberry page should tell it is no longer maintained and the users who want to try it may face issues and surely expect no recent kstars updates.

Hi,

I reported the same issue, here . At least, I am not the only one person facing the issue. In 3.6.7, kstars was in english and with 3.7.0, it's set according to the local language of my OS, with no way to set in an other language. I changed the OS language to english and now, Kstars is in english

Hi,

I think I already faced this issue and I have the solution. Following the update of Kstars, the catalogs needs also to be updated. Just go to the "data manager" and update all the catalogs of objects that need to be updated.

Note that it can also happen without any software updates, check the catalogs to get sure they're all fine before searching something.

HI,

I tested the new version on my rig, everything goes right for what I see by day.

But Kstars 3.7.0 language is now set in french (my OS local language) and I can't set it back to English. If I set it to english, it goes back to Frenck at next restart. I have updated my languages package for translations but it didn't solve the issue.

HI,

the new drivers are not all update for now, and i suspect the driver 2.0.7 you use for the dome is notreleased yet. Wait a few hours and the drivers for INDI 2.0.7 will be available in the ppa. You have updated too quickly.

Hello, yesterday I faced a dozen of Kstars crashes before having a stable session. I can't really figured out the causes of that. My crash logs reports crashes with Eqmod, OpenWeatherMap and finally Kstars issues. Here is the crash logs on Mint 21.3 (Ubuntu 22.04). I eventully removed OpenWeatherMap from the profile but still got a crash, from Eqmo driver.

By the way, the default value 0.5s stop is fine. I just want to be able to decrease it to 0.1s. Because up to now, if i change the value by a value lower than 0.5s, it goes back to 0.5s step.

Hello,

for guiding, I usually use exposition of 0.7, 0.8, or 1.2 s to keep short duration but longer than 0.5s or 1. In the dark library creator, the minimal step duration is 0.5s. It would be nice to decrease it to 0.1s for example.
