Applies to more than simply Ubuntu 22.04.
I did a whole series of basic articles on how to set up various Ubuntu derivatives with the PPA and basic configuration over on my site.

The ZWO EAF has an optional hand paddle that you can adjust the focus manually. But when you use it, it does adjust the count in the EAF itself. And that's why I have one for each of the units I have. It makes it handy whenever I want to do live viewing with the scopes also.
There may be some EAFs out there that has a clutch to disconnect from the shaft, but I don't see any way those can keep up with the number of rotations on the device with the focus assembly travel since they are not bound to each other any longer.
Not really different than when you loosen the clutch on your mount and move your scope. It may say it's pointed one location but once you moved it manually that location fix no longer applies.

I would not suggest it right now myself.
Just tried a new install of Ubuntu 224.04LTS on one of my mini PCs.
When going to install KStars/INDI/EKOS I got a warning of
indi-full: Depdends: indi-apogee but it is not going to be installed
Depends: indi-astroasis but is not installable
E: Unable to correct probelms, you have held broken packages.

On both my Intel NUC 11 Essential and my BeeLink U59 I had numerous display issues (and even becoming non-responsive) with StellarMate X OS.

Once I disabled the Compositor under the Display and Monitor in System Settings I have no longer seen this issue.
I don't think this is enabled on the RPi version of StellarMate (haven't used it in a few months).

Astroberry is 32 bit... and it is extremely outdated.
Setting up the Orange Pi (I have a 3 LTS) manually is not that hard.

Can't speak to the issue with the Mac time...
But for KStars under Linux (several different versions that I did articles for setup with on), I have had no issues since I started using the GPS dongles I got from Amazon.

I use mini PCs for the control unit for the telescopes. I only use my Mac to remote into those PCs.
I wonder if your issue is something to do with the Mac OS version of KStars?

Have you tried removing the PPA, running sudo apt update and then adding it back in?

Can confirm that my Pegasus Falcon is working fine on 1.8.2 now. AFAIK the update has not been pushed out into the stream yet as when I just did (yes, I know playing with fire) an SM Update to pull in any new changes nothing was there.
But I'm happily capturing M81/M82 and the camera did have to rotate to a new angle since it had been moved around and I was doing a load & slew from earlier captures.

It was a driver issue. Jasem apparently fixed it and stated that an update would be pushed out to the INDI PPA sometimes within the next 24 hours.
