I am running Stellarmate 1.7.5 on an rpi4 using noVNC from a macbook. I usually run using the hotspot ,as the house WIfi is too weak to reach the garden. A few days ago I needed to download Hips from the internet so I used the Stellarmate dashboard to connect to the house wifi and everything went fine for the download. I then used the dashboard to turn back on the hotspot and I could communicate with the Stellarmate os without a problem. However when I started up the system again that evening I found that The hotspot had turned off and I could only connect using the house Wifi. I have gone around the loop a few times and the hotspot keeps turning off. In the past it seems to me that when I turned on the hotspot it stayed on. What am I missing? Is there something else I should be doing? Thanks for any help.

Under the guide tab next to the capture and loop buttons there is a button that looks vaguely like a galaxy which toggles "show in fits viewer". Would this help?

This may not be just an AM5 problem. I am using an Avalon m-zero(not yet listed in my profile, I know) running Stellarmate 1.7.5 on an Rpi4. I have park and home positions set up at the same place. Using a Macbook and noVNC to connect to stellarmate I can do a polar alignment but when I do a goto to the first target the mount gets the dec correct but the ra is off. I have found the workaround is to turn off the power, power up and do gps refresh and unpark ,as usual, and the goto is good this time. I have noticed that when the gotos work the HA reported in the mount tab is 6hrs and the mount is in the weights down position. When it does not work the HA angle in the mouint tab is some weird value. Question is where does the mount get this weird value from the first time around?

My experience may have relevance to this problem. have a Pi4, a usb3 hub, gps dongle and assorted cameras running from the usb hub When I first connected things I had the usb3 hub connected to the usb3 connector on the Pi4. I could never get a gps fix. Then I read that there can be interference from usb3 signals that can prevent the gps dongle getting a fix. I connected the usb3 hub to the usb2 connector on the Pi4 and everything works like a charm. Whether using usb 2 rather than usb3 slows downloads of frames I have no idea since I have never been able to use usb3.

I am running Stellamate 1.72 on an rpi4. I had my Zwo533mc camera set at-10c and I tried to make a dark library for the purposes of PA and focussing. When I hit start in the library window the “enforce temp value” box on the camera tab gets ticked and the desired CCD temp changes from -10c to zero. Since I have not actually made a dark library for a cooled camera before, I thought maybe it was associated with SM 1.7.2 so changed to SM 1.7.0 which has the same problem. I can understand that the enforce temp box is ticked but why does the “desired CCD temp” get changed to zero? Is this a bug or is this 0 degrees value set elsewhere? What am I missing?
Thanks

Hi Magnus
If you want to force the change to hotspot you can go to the dashboard through stellarmate.local and under the network symbol you can turn on the hotspot

Hi Magnus
When you get out of range of your home wifi the stellarmate hotspot normally turns on by itself.

Many thanks for the detailed reply Rick. I will make the effort to upgrade the firmware. No need for special case backward compatibility.

I recently downloaded Stellarmate 1.7.2 and have a similar problem using a CEM26. Apart from the initial spot on calibration window nothing seems to happen. I have attached a log file in the hope that someone could tell me what I am doing wrong. That way I will avoid what appears the arduous task of upgrading the Ioptron firmware as I will have to borrow my wife's Windows computer and try to remember how to operate it. Stellarmate 1.7.0 worked fine for calibration.
Thanks
Mike
I have seen this with an Ioptron cem26. The 'meridian treatment' in the hand controller is not kept in memory and has to be set at each startup. At each startup the hand controller resets to 'when meridian flip reaches 0 degrees it will stop'.

I have this scrunching up of the prefix, postfix, directory and save fields too. I solved it by restricting the height of the messaging window at the bottom. There is a pull down bar at the top of the massaging window.

I recently replaced Stellarmate 1.6 with 1.7. When I open a terminal window the prompt stellarmate@stellarmate can take 1-3 mins to appear. Has anyone else come across this? Does it have something to do with this mysterious "muttering" I have seen references to in another thread?
