Stefan,

I had the opportunity to test with my friend and we have found a workaround (which is not really a workaround), it seems the driver is functional but when is started by kstars it doesn't find any camera.

We have tried to start indiserver by hand from the terminal and from INDI server GUI and when pointing Kstars to that instance of INDI server the toupcam driver is able to find the camera and it works properly (even after updating to 1.6)

Hi Mattia,
thanks for the info.
Don't know how to handle an INDI server from outside of KStars. Do I have to define the INDI profile in another tool and start INDI by commandline?

the fastest way is to jump to 1.6 and use INDI server GUI on the desktop, you enable the drivers you want to use (like the toupcam one) and click "start INDI server". You can find a short video about the program here

Then the only change you need to make in your profile is to set the "mode" to remote instead of local and be sure that localhost is in the Host section and 7624 in the port one, EKOS will use the instance of INDI started previously instead of initiating a new one

Hi Mattia,

thanks for the answer.
Unfortunatly the link to INDI Server GUI (and to AstroDMx) are not functional on my AstroArch installation.

Stefan

Hey Stefan, out of curiosity, if you delete the icon on the desktop and try to make a new one by looking up indi server ui in the applications on the main menu and then clicking "add to desktop" using the right mouse button, does it work?

Hi Mattia,
"indi server ui" doesn't seem to be installed (same with AstroDMX ).

I made the update to 1.6 after switching to the usb ssd.
"AstroDMx" and "indi server ui" were introduced with 1.6.
Could the reason be, that those programs won't be installed with a system, that was switched from sd to ssd?

I am not sure tbh, you can still pull them manually anyway by running sudo pacman -S indiserver-ui

That worked, thanx :)
Unfortunatly I have no access to my rig during the next days, will try the manual indi-start as soon as possible and give a feedback here.

Another question: Is there a similar way to install AstroDMx without invalidating KStars/Ekos/Indi ?

sure!

do the same so in order:
- drop the astrodmx icon from the desktop
- make sure astrodmx is installed with sudo pacman -Syu astro_dmx
- find it in the apps and make a shortcut on the desktop, I believe it should start with no issues at that point

I was able to get the touptek main cam (and telescope simulator) and connected INDI as you described:
The cam is recognized :)
But here is the next Problem: Offset can't be adjusted, it is just greyed out:

Months ago some people had that effect.

Seems, that there are still problems with the new INDI version combined with the new Touptek driver.
And I think, that isn't directly related to AstroArch at all.
Even if there is a problem with Toupcams at this point (think no problem with other cams) it will develop to a stable system, that hopefully will be bundled with more additional software as AstroDMx.
Many thanks to Mattia for his initiative to make AstroArch. And many thanks to Jasem and all of the specialists, that make fantastic KStars/EKOS/INDI possible.
I have a separate ssd with AstroArch and will make all updates and give feedback.
For now I can use KStars 3.6.0 (last Astroberry version), when I have a clear night.
Regards
Stefan

Thanks Stefan for your kind words!

I will ask my friend which, I believe, has the same camera and report back here. I also dropped the links from the 1.6 update thinking that anybody should adjust his desktop with the things she/he wants.

The last 2 open topics are the translation and the desktop, I haven't looked into the desktop background yet but I will in the next week, for the translation I am a bit lost as it does work on my Arch x64 machine but it does not on my raspberry. I found a couple of topics related to this issues which seems more common than I thought. Iam still far from knowing where is the problem but I suppose is something related to armv7/aarch64 systems only (I used the exact same flags to compile Kstars, so I tend to believe the problem is on that side)

Hope to have you on board soon then, take care!
